Mozart Festival – Final Concert

This is a concert that you could bring the whole family to. Guitarist James Grace will be playing the very popular 'Concerto d'Aranjuez' by Joaquin Rodrigo while the Chanticleer Singers will perform Pieter Louis van Dijk's 'San Gloria'.  van Dijk's work 'The Musicians of Bremen'  is a piece not to be missed.  So bring the children and be entertained with exciting music in this final concert of The Johannesburg International Mozart Festival.

Haydn’s 7 Last Words – Chanticleer Singers and the Odeion String Quartet

Haydn considered The Seven Last Words Of Christ to be one of his greatest works, and thought it superior to either of his later oratorios, The Creation and The Seasons. It was very popular during his lifetime, and it was the oratorio version of this work that he conducted in his last concert appearance on December 26, 1803.

Benjamin Britten – War Requiem – Berlin

Commissioned to celebrate the opening of the new cathedral at Coventry, built to replace the one destroyed by bombs, Britten used the opportunity to write a large-scale composition embodying his deeply held pacifist and humanitarian beliefs. The result, the War Requiem, is regarded by many as his masterpiece in the non-operatic sphere.
